Altona Junior 2014 Results

Good job and well done for all our players who performed well at Altona Juniors last Saturday and Sunday.


The tournament ran under 17 and under 13 events were the mandatory events to get into Victorian State teams for under 13 Tri Series which will be held on January 2015.


The results of BAV players (in bold) are as follows (congratulations to Ryan Venpin and Irene Chau on getting the "Perpetual Trophy" for this tournament, some of our players names on it since 2002: Jonathan Chim, Clifford Gan, Darshand Gobinathan (2x), Andre Zopf (2x), Eldon Xu, Elton Zhang on the boys side):

Under 13

Boys singles

Finall: Ryan Venpin vs Ross Audley (WSBA) = 31-14

Quarter finalists: Joshua Ea lost to Ross Audley 25-30, Austin was the winner of the RR group and lost to Joshua Ea in round of 16.


Girls singles

Final: Irene Chau vs Angela Yu (SEBA) = 30-16

Semifinalist: Kaitlyn Ea lost to Angela Yu: 10-30


Boys doubles

Final: Ryan Venpin/Ross Audley (WSBA) vs Otto Zhao (FSBA)/Jack Yu (SEBA) = 30-26

Semifinalists: Gary Chau/Joshua Ea lost to Ryan/Ross = 15-30 and Jeremy So/Austin Swamy lost to Otto/Jack = 22-30

Quarterfinalist: Kijen Lew/Liam Rhimes (Gippsland) lost to Jeremy/Austin = 16-30


Girls doubles (no final as only 5 pairs played, so round robin)

Winner: Irene Chau/Angela Yu (SEBA)


Mixed doubles

Two of our mixed lost in semifinal:

Ryan/Irene lost to Jack/Angela Yu = 28-30

Ross/Kaitlyn Ea lost to Otto/Tiann Young (FSBA) = 22-30


Special doubles (for players who don't have mixed doubles partners)

Austin Swamy/Stuart Ottrey vs Eric Lee (WSBA)/Rayne Wang (PBA) = 30-26


UNDER 17

Boys doubles

Final: William Chau/Elton Zhang lost to David Lee/Janson Trinh (PBA) = 7-21 13-21

Mixed doubles

Final: Charlie Jap (WSBA)/Sasha Lim lost to David Lee/Chloe Chen (PBA) = 15-21 10-21


Sasha Lim and Irene Chau were semifinalists of under 17 girls singles
